The Crusader men battled through injuries on the road, delivering a strong effort that fell short at Washington Adventist University, losing 85-73. Junior Patrick Pennefather led the charge with a career-high 29 points (including 5-9 from 3-point territory) and 14 rebounds. Christendom came out strong on WAU's Senior Night, playing much of the first half with a slim lead. WAU had no answer for freshman Luke Schultz, who was dominant around the rim, logging a double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds) in the first half. With Michael Urankar already having left the game with a knee injury, Schultz suffered a significant injury to his ankle with seconds to go in the first half. Neither player would return to the floor, and both will likely be out of action for the Crusaders' season finale.
Down 4 at the half, the Crusaders fell behind by as much as 20 points in the second stanza, but battled back on the strength of long distance shooting from Pennefather and Pete Day (who finished with 11 points). Nick Santschi also added 7 points and 5 assists.
WAU had 6 players in double figures, led by seniors Jawaun Wilson with 18 points, and Charles Vines with 15, each playing in his final home game.
The Crusaders will close out the season at Appalachian Bible College on February 17.
