    Christendom freshman Owen Kennedy, at 6-foot-8, towers over most people on campus. His height, athletic talent, drive, and character power him to success both on and off the basketball court – facts that led him to earning the college’s Thomas S. Vander Woude Athletic Scholarship to attend Christendom this year.
  • Seniors Sent Off With Sports Banquet

    On May 2nd, the athletics department held its annual end-of-year sports banquet.  At the banquet, the athletics department honored our graduating seniors with personal plaques commemorating their years of participation in Christendom varsity sports, as well as honoring Sophomore Ian Heisler with his USCAA Player of the Week Award for his no-hitter thrown on March 3rd.

  • Crusaders Drop Tough Game Against Washington Adventist

    The Crusader men battled through injuries on the road, delivering a strong effort that fell short at Washington Adventist University, losing 85-73. Junior Patrick Pennefather led the charge with a career-high 29 points (including 5-9 from 3-point territory) and 14 rebounds.
  • Crusaders Defeat Patrick Henry On Senior Day

    The Crusaders completed a season sweep of the Patrick Henry College Sentinels with a 95-43 win at home on Senior Day.  Christendom started the game with a 21-0 run and never looked back.  Freshman Luke Schultz led the way with a dominating performance,
  • Crusaders Take Down Patrick Henry 102-52

    The Christendom men's basketball team delivered their most prolific offensive performance of the season on February 7th, in a 102-52 road win over the Patrick Henry College Sentinels.  The Crusaders were effective both in the paint and from beyond the 3-point arc as they cruised to their third win of the season
  • Crusaders Fall to Mid-Atlantic Christian

    It was a tough day for the Crusaders who fell 49-69 to Mid-Atlantic Christian. Junior Patrick Pennefather was all over the court until he fouled out with a few minutes left to play. Pennefather double-doubled with 15 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 assists.
  • Crusaders Improve With Victory Against Appalachian Bible

    The Crusaders brought their record to 2-9 on the season with a victory over Appalachian Bible College. The Crusaders took the lead early and never looked back. They shot 47.3% from the field with the help of freshman Luke Schultz who nearly double-doubled with 22 points
  • Crusaders Drop Close Game Against Williamson

    The Crusaders lost a close game to Williamson College of the Trades this past Saturday at home, 55-48. The two teams were evenly matched, Christendom shooting 40.0% from the field while Williamson shot 38.8%. The Crusaders out-rebounded Williamson with a total of 32 rebounds for the game.
  • Crusaders Fight Hard against Central Penn

    It was a tough game offensively and defensively last night as the Crusaders fell 85-43 to #6 Central Penn in an extremely physical game. In a cold shooting night, the leading scorers for the Crusaders were Tommy Vander Woude with 10 points, followed by Michael Urankar with 8 points.
  • Crusaders Fall To #8 Warren Wilson

    Despite a tough start to the basketball game last night, the Crusaders managed to reduce #8 Warren Wilson’s lead to 15 points, leaving the final score at 88-103. A warm Christendom welcome was also given to Freshman transfer Luke Schultz. Schultz, along with being the lead scorer—putting in 27 points— also lead the team in rebounds, followed by Johnny Echaniz with 16 points, Patrick Pennefather with 14 points and Pete Day with 11 points. Ian Heisler, Michael Urankar, and Day all chipped in 5 assists each.

  • Crusaders Fall to Randolph College

    The Christendom Crusaders dropped their second game of the season, losing to the Randolph College Wildcats to even their record at 1-1. The Crusaders struggled in the first half to score the basketball, putting up only 11 points and being repeatedly beat in the lane and in transition.

Of the sixteen senior athletes, each played key roles on their teams, leading the Crusaders to great success this year, and leaving a legacy of sportsmanship and perseverance that the college will remember for years to come.

    The Christendom men?s basketball team was in desperate need of a win on Saturday. The team hosted Mid-Atlantic Christian University, whom they lost to earlier in the season in North Carolina, 71-85.
  • Crusaders Give Up Tough Loss Against Southern Virgina

    The men’s basketball team played Southern Virginia University’s JV on Tuesday night in their final home contest of the semester. The Crusaders came out flat and allowed Southern Virginia to build a lead to nearly 20 points in the beginning of the game. With about 4 minutes left to play in the first half, Christendom’s defensive energy and team pressure sparked some quick lay-ups and transition jump shots to give the team some life. Offensively, drives and finishes at the rim by Johnny Echaniz and three-point jumpers by Pete Day, Jerome Norton, and Stephen Foeckler brought the team to pull within 13 points at halftime.
  • The Crusaders Take First Home Loss Against the Wildcats of Randolph College

    The Crusaders took their first home loss of the season against the Wildcats of Randolph College to bring their home record to 2-1 at home and their overall record to 2-4. The Crusaders often struggled to produce offensively against Randolph’s tenacious defense, but there were times that the young Crusaders team moved the ball quite well, broke down their smothering defense and got quality shots.
  • Men's Basketball Come Out Strong Again At Second Home Game

    The Crusaders won what became a rather one sided game on Tuesday night, defeating the Warriors of Appalachian Bible college with a score of 91-63. Junior Stephen Foeckler led the charge with 24 points. The Crusaders moved the ball well, and as a result there was a spike in the amount of assists this category being led by Foeckler and fellow junior Joseph Pennefather, both with 4.
  • Crusaders are Unable to Leave Weekend with a Win

    In their second game of the Invitational, the Christendom men’s basketball team played Warren Wilson from Asheville, North Carolina. Saturday afternoon’s game for the Crusaders started well with Stephen Foeckler getting a pass from Nick Santschi and hitting a three pointer to go up 3-0. They battled back and forth but found themselves unable to break Warren Wilson’s full court press consistently and their half court pressure and trapping defense got the best of Christendom’s young team in the first half and they found themselves in another tough situation.
  • Crusaders Lose First Game of Weekend at Johnson and Wales

    The Christendom men’s basketball team travelled south to Charlotte, North Carolina this past weekend to Johnson & Wales University for the Johnson & Wales Invitational. On Friday night, November 13, they had the tough task of playing the host team, which were defending semi-finalists the season before in the USCAA tournament.
  • Crusaders Beat VMI in First Home Game

    Your Christendom Crusaders won a scrappy game against the Keydets of VMI to improve to a 1-1 overall record. The Crusaders were led by freshman Patrick Pennefather’s 24 points. While there are still many things that the young team has to work on, as displayed by a messy first half, they showed a certain mental toughness in closing out the last several minutes of the game that is not often found in a team as young as they are.
