Christendom Baseball opened its 2026 campaign in dominant fashion on the road, sweeping a doubleheader at PSU Fayette in two high-scoring contests, 21-10 and 15-3.
Game 1: Christendom 21, PSU Fayette 10
The Crusaders wasted little time setting the tone in the opener, erupting for nine runs in the second inning to seize early control. Christendom piled up 21 runs on 18 hits, showcasing depth throughout the lineup.
Gus Coleman and Peter Sullivan led the offensive charge with four RBIs apiece. Sullivan enjoyed a perfect day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a double and three runs scored, while Coleman added three hits and crossed the plate four times. Will Reese also delivered in key moments, driving in four runs on a pair of hits.
Paul Amuso set the table effectively at the top of the lineup, scoring three runs and adding a pair of hits and an RBI. George Storey contributed three hits and two RBIs, while Joe Romero chipped in two hits and an RBI. Ocean DeKuiper added a two-RBI effort in limited at-bats.
On the mound, Joe Romero earned the win, working three innings while striking out four. Sam Romero provided solid relief, allowing just one earned run over two innings with four strikeouts.
Despite defensive miscues, including multiple errors, the Crusaders' offensive firepower proved more than enough to secure the season-opening victory.
Game 2: Christendom 15, PSU Fayette 3
Christendom carried its momentum into game two, jumping out to an early lead with a six-run first inning and adding another six-run frame in the third to put the game out of reach.
The Crusaders totaled 15 runs on 14 hits in the nightcap, with balanced production once again across the lineup. Rowland Thornberry drove in a team-high four runs, while Paul Amuso added two RBIs at the top of the order.
Gus Coleman continued his strong day, collecting three hits and scoring three times. Peter Sullivan contributed two hits and an RBI, and George Storey added three hits and a run driven in. Luke Roman reached base consistently, drawing two walks and driving in a pair.
On the bases, Thornberry and Sam Romero each swiped two bags, helping apply constant pressure.
