Crusaders Finish Second in ESAC
Jenkintown, Pa.-Christendom Men's Basketball fell to Manor College 92–79 on the road in the Eastern States Athletic Conference (ESAC) Championship Game.
Manor seized control early, jumping out to a 14–2 lead in the opening minutes of the first half. Christendom gradually settled into the game, chipping away at the deficit behind improved shooting and interior play. The Crusaders cut the lead to just four points at 38–34 late in the half, but the Blue Jays responded before the break and carried a 48–40 advantage into halftime.
The second half saw Manor once again create separation, stretching its lead to 64–48 with 13:53 remaining. However, a crucial offensive foul call halted the possession, and Manor capitalized on the ensuing play with a banked-in three-pointer. The momentum shifted back to the Blue Jays, who used the sequence to create breathing room and close out the contest.
Bobby Vander Woude led the Crusaders offensively with 29 points, knocking down five three-pointers and going 8-of-10 from the free throw line. Luke Vander Woude added 15 points on an efficient 5-of-11 shooting performance, including five triples, while Michael Vander Woude contributed 14 points with four three-pointers of his own.
Daniel Schultz recorded a strong all-around performance with a double-double, finishing with 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds while also adding three blocks. Edmund Thomas provided energy off the bench with seven points, six rebounds, four steals, and three assists. As a team, Christendom connected on 14 three-pointers and recorded 10 steals and seven blocks, but Manor's early advantage and late-game execution proved decisive.
