Crusaders Lose to Potomac State College, First Loss of Season

Christendom College Men’s Soccer team played at Potomac State College Wednesday night September 23 2015. The Crusaders have never beaten Potomac State before. The game started off with the Crusaders dominating the control of the game. Within the first 10 min of the game, the Crusaders had a few good chances to score, but were unable to convert. In the 35^th minute, Potomac State had a long throw-in that was tipped into the box. The ball fell to one of their players who easily passed it into the net. The first half ended with the Crusaders down 1-0.

At the begining of the second half, the Crusaders held possession of the ball. In the 60^th minute, Junior midfielder Patrick McNeely passed the ball down the sideline to James Miller who took 2 touches and crossed the ball across the face of the goal. On the other side of the field, James Salmon beat the defender to the back post and slammed the ball into the back of the net. The game was tied with 30 minutes remaining on the clock.  

Later in the half, a pass came to open forward James Salmon who dribbled the ball behind the defense and placed the ball across the charging goalie. The ball floated through the air and hit the upright of the goal, pushing the ball out of the net. The Crusaders were knocking on the door. Unfortunately after a turnover at half field, the Potomac State player dribbled the ball and took a shot from the 30-yard line. The ball dipped into the back of the net allowing them to take a 2-1 lead. This gave the Crusaders their first lost off the year.

The next Men’s Soccer game is Monday 28^th at home against Washington Adventist University.
