Crusaders Fall in Home Opener against Williamson

Front Royal, Va.-The Christendom College Men's Soccer Team came up short in its home opener on Saturday, falling 5–3 to Williamson College of the Trades.
 
After conceding early, the Crusaders answered back in the 19th minute when senior Ryan Welch slotted home the equalizer off a feed from captain Niall Maguire. Just eight minutes later, senior Charlie Wyckoff struck to tie the game again at 2–2.
 
Christendom then surged in front in the 30th minute, as Welch netted his second of the afternoon — again assisted by Maguire — to send the Crusaders into halftime with a 3–2 lead.
 
The second half, however, belonged to Williamson, as the visitors tallied three unanswered goals to hand Christendom the 5–3 defeat. Welch finished with two goals and Maguire with two assists to pace the Crusaders' attack.
 
Up Next: Christendom (1–2, 0-2 ESAC) will look to rebound when they host Patrick Henry on Tuesday, September 9.
