First Half:
The Crusaders came out of the gates with incredible energy, overwhelming the Knights with fast-paced offense and stifling defense. Christendom dominated on both ends of the floor, with Mary Pennefather (Sophomore/Manassas, VA) leading the charge. The Crusaders' defense was suffocating, forcing Central Penn into multiple turnovers and limiting their scoring opportunities.
By the midway point of the first half, Christendom had already built a commanding lead, outpacing the Knights on fast breaks and capitalizing on their defensive stops. Pennefather and Catherine Thomas (Senior/Corpus Christi, TX) led the charge offensively, while the rest of the team contributed with well-executed ball movement and timely shooting.
At the half, Christendom had established a commanding 45-18 lead, putting the game well out of reach for the Knights. The Crusaders shot efficiently from the field and dominated the glass, with Thomas and Pennefather particularly active on the boards.
Second Half:
The second half was more of the same for Christendom. With a substantial lead, the Crusaders continued to control the game, extending their advantage with every possession. Central Penn struggled to find any rhythm offensively, as the Crusaders' defense continued to force tough shots and limit second-chance opportunities.
Pennefather remained in attack mode, scoring efficiently and setting up teammates for easy baskets. Thomas continued her dominance on the boards, pulling down rebound after rebound to secure possessions for the Crusaders. Regina Bonvissuto (Senior/Kingston Springs, TN) and Miranda Keller (Senior/Harrisburg, PA) also chipped in with timely baskets to maintain Christendom's stronghold on the game, finishing with 11 and 12, respectively.
Despite a few scoring runs from Central Penn, the Crusaders never lost control. With the game firmly in hand, Christendom cruised to a 79-39 victory, capping off an impressive team performance.
Thomas would finish with 17 points and a commanding 18 rebounds, and Pennefather filled up the stat sheet with 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists.
With this dominant win, the Crusaders improve their record to 7-0 and will look to build on this performance as they continue their season. Their balance on both ends of the floor was evident, and the team will look to replicate this level of play in future games.
