Women's Soccer Secures #3 Seed in National Tournament
Front Royal, Va.- The Christendom women's soccer team, coming off an excellent 9-3 season, has punched its ticket to the USCAA DII National Championship Tournament — its fourth appearance in program history — as announced by the USCAA on Wednesday, November 5. The team will travel to Pennsylvania for the tournament beginning November 14, with hopes of reaching the National Championship game on November 17.
Building on last year's success, which saw Christendom finish as National Runners-Up, the team overcame an opening-weekend loss to finish the regular season with a dominant 6-1 record in October. Their impressive performance earned them a #4 national ranking from the USCAA and set them in prime position to compete for a title this month.
Standout individual performances fueled the team's remarkable run. Ava Hudson led the offense with 11 goals and 27 total points, while Megan Lovar added 7 goals and 20 points of her own. On the defensive side, Christendom's versatility shined throughout the season. Excellent defensive play by Serena Keller, Maria Blank, Theresa Hambleton, and others led to one of the strongest defensive units in the program's history.
Christendom enters the National Championship Tournament as the #3 overall seed and will begin pool play on Friday, November 14, against either the #2 or #6 seed. Pool play games will continue through the weekend, culminating in the National Championship game at Highmark Stadium on Monday, November 17.
The team is currently looking to raise $10,000 for the tournament. To support the team's National Championship run, visit here.
