Kevin McClinton Named Head Volleyball Coach
Front Royal, Va. — Christendom Athletics has announced the hiring of Kevin McClinton as the new head coach of the Crusaders volleyball program.
McClinton brings more than 25 years of coaching experience across multiple sports, including softball, football, basketball, and volleyball, with 18 years specifically dedicated to developing volleyball players at the middle school and high school levels. His extensive coaching background, passion for teaching, and commitment to helping athletes reach their full potential will provide valuable leadership for the Christendom volleyball program.
A Senior Systems Engineer by profession, McClinton's passion for teaching began during his college years, where he taught electronics to inner-city youth, tutored underclassmen in calculus and differential equations, and later spent several years giving piano lessons. Coaching has allowed him to combine his two great passions — athletics and teaching — while helping student-athletes grow both on and off the court.
A lifelong athlete, McClinton played semi-professional baseball in New Jersey and has continued to bring a competitive mindset and love for athletics into his coaching career. He holds USA Volleyball IMPACT and CAP I certifications and is Gold Medal Squared trained. He is also a member of USA Volleyball, the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), and the Positive Coaching Alliance. He currently coaches and is the Director of Operations at Dynamix Volleyball Club based in Northern Virginia, where he developed numerous players who went on to have successful collegiate careers.
Throughout his coaching career, McClinton has emphasized the importance of fundamentals, hard work, and a genuine love for the game. His coaching philosophy centers on helping athletes continue to develop, compete with purpose, and use challenges as opportunities for improvement. He believes that strong fundamentals and consistent effort create the foundation for success and strives to help every player reach their next level.
McClinton and his wife, Estelle, have been married for more than 35 years and have three children — Marissa, Julian, and Sarah. Both daughters played travel volleyball, with Marissa continuing her playing career at the collegiate level at Randolph College.
"Kevin brings a tremendous amount of coaching experience and a true passion for developing student-athletes," said Athletic Director Patrick Quest. "His background in volleyball, commitment to teaching, and focus on building strong fundamentals align with the values of Christendom Athletics. We are excited to welcome Kevin to our coaching staff and look forward to the continued growth of Crusader Volleyball under his leadership."
